Welcome to Hardy & Diamond, Gemstone Journeys.

We’re both passionate about jewellery and we both love to travel. So, when Jess was telling Joanna earlier this year about her recent trip to Sri Lanka, and how she’d found it difficult to buy gemstones out there, the seed of an idea started to form. 


Could it be possible, we wondered, to travel to this gem-rich country and buy loose stones from trust-worthy sources – like sapphires, citrines or aquamarines? Six months of research later and we are certain it is. And we’d like to invite you to come with us.

But we’re not just about offering the chance to buy gemstones. We’d like you to understand how they were formed in the earth and how gemstones are so important to this island’s history.


We’d like you to visit a mine and see where those stones are from, to know that the miners are fairly rewarded for their work and that the supply chain from the mine to you is fully traceable.

It doesn’t end there. Back in the UK we’d like you to take your stone and turn it into something special – but commissioning a designer can be an intimidating and daunting task. With our knowledge of the contemporary British jewellery scene, we will hold your hand through this stage, introducing you to jewellers and makers while helping you with design choices so that it’s an incredibly enjoyable and rewarding process.


It's our hope that your gemstone journey from start to finish is enriching, insightful and fun. And that what you’re left with – a beautiful jewel – is a lasting memory of your time in Sri Lanka and your time with us. We hope to see you soon,
